VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean Section)

VBAC stands for “Vaginal Birth After Cesarean” and is the term used when a woman has a natural birth, after having a cesarean section in the past. For a woman who has already given birth with a cesarean section, there is the choice of normal labor if she wishes so, after being informed on all alternative  solutions available, but also the strict prerequisites for it to be attempted.

The reasons for a woman to choose natural birth after a cesarean section are usually the following:

• to avoid surgery
• shorter hospitalization
• faster recovery
• increased possibility for a vaginal birth in the future
• she wishes to experience vaginal birth
