Vaginal Procedures
Colporrhaphy
Colporrhaphy is a technique used to repair cystocele or rectocele, i.e. when the urinary bladder or the rectum drop out of their normal positions and bulge into the vagina.
Cystocele can be repaired either via intravaginal procedure (anterior colporrhaphy) or laparoscopically, using a vaginal pessary (supporting device).
Rectocele can also be repaired either intravaginal procedure (posterior colporrhaphy) or laparoscopically using a pessary.
Vaginal hysterectomy
During vaginal hysterectomy, the uterus is removed through the vagina, without any incisions on the abdomen. This method has the following advantages:
- No incision needed on the abdominal wall.
- Faster recovery.
- Reduced hospitalization time.
- Possibility of injuring internal structures is almost zero.
- Possibility of adhesions forming is almost zero.
- Pain is reduced both in intensity and duration.
- Reduced probability of post-surgery complications.
Bladder suspension surgery (TVT sling)
Solving the problem of urinary incontinence, faced by many women all over the world, is a very sensitive and important research subject. Lately, in our country and internationally, a method called “Transvaginal Tape / Tension-Free vaginal Tape sling” is performed. It’s a relatively new method for the treatment of urinary incontinence in women; a specialized supporting tape is placed at the urethra and improves the weakness of the urethra sphincter to contain urine.
